No. Thursday 5 November 2026 is a normal working day in every UK region.
The answer above uses today’s date in the UK and covers all three jurisdictions at once, because a day can be a bank holiday in one part of the UK and a normal working day in another. St Andrew’s Day on 30 November, for example, is a bank holiday in Scotland only.

Is today a bank holiday for banks, schools and shops?
A bank holiday is a public holiday by law, but it does not close everything. Bacs only processes payments on banking days, so bank transfers that use Bacs wait until the next working day. Whether a branch, school, shop or office is open is up to the organisation: GOV.UK states that employers do not have to give paid leave on bank holidays. For schools, the local term dates are the reliable guide.
How we calculate
We compare today’s date in UK time (Europe/London) with the GOV.UK bank holidays data, which we import every night. The page therefore switches to the next day at midnight UK time. If a bank holiday falls at a weekend, the substitute weekday counts as the bank holiday, and the answer shows it with its official name. Weekends are not bank holidays in themselves.
