No. Thursday 5 November 2026 is a normal working day in Northern Ireland.
The answer above covers Northern Ireland only. Northern Ireland has all the bank holidays of England and Wales plus two of its own, St Patrick’s Day on 17 March and the Battle of the Boyne on 12 July, so on those two days the answer here can be yes while the rest of the UK is at work.

Is today a bank holiday in Northern Ireland only?
Two dates a year are bank holidays in Northern Ireland and nowhere else in the UK:
- St Patrick’s Day, 17 March. If 17 March is a Sunday, the bank holiday is Monday 18 March. In 2027 it falls on Wednesday 17 March.
- Battle of the Boyne (Orangemen’s Day), 12 July. When it falls at a weekend, the holiday moves to a weekday, as on Monday 13 July 2026. In 2027 it is Monday 12 July.
Every other Northern Ireland bank holiday, from New Year’s Day to Boxing Day, is on the same date as in England and Wales. Scotland’s 2 January and St Andrew’s Day are not bank holidays in Northern Ireland.
The Republic of Ireland is not part of the UK, and its public holidays are not covered here.

How we calculate
To answer “Is today a bank holiday in Northern Ireland?”, we compare today’s date in UK time (Europe/London) with the Northern Ireland section of the GOV.UK bank holidays data, which we import every night. The answer switches at midnight UK time. If a bank holiday falls at a weekend, the substitute weekday counts as the bank holiday and appears under the name of the holiday it replaces, such as St Patrick’s Day on Monday 18 March 2024.
