No. Thursday 5 November 2026 is a normal working day in Scotland.
This answer checks Scotland only. A day can be a working day in Edinburgh and a bank holiday in London, or the other way round: Easter Monday is a bank holiday in England but not in Scotland, while 2 January and St Andrew’s Day are bank holidays in Scotland only.

Is today a bank holiday in Scotland but not in England?
These are the days on which the answer for Scotland can differ from the rest of the UK:
- 2 January, or a later weekday if it falls at a weekend or on the New Year’s Day substitute. In 2027 that is Monday 4 January.
- St Andrew’s Day, 30 November, or the following Monday when 30 November is a Saturday or Sunday. In 2026 it is Monday 30 November.
- The first Monday in August, Scotland’s summer bank holiday. In 2027 that is Monday 2 August.
- One-off days proclaimed for Scotland only, such as the World Cup bank holiday on Monday 15 June 2026.
The reverse also applies. On Easter Monday and on the last Monday in August, England and Wales have a bank holiday and Scotland does not, so the answer above says no.
Local holidays in Scottish towns and council areas are not bank holidays. If your workplace closes for one, this page still shows a normal working day.

How we calculate
To answer “Is today a bank holiday in Scotland?”, we compare today’s date in UK time (Europe/London) with the Scotland section of the GOV.UK bank holidays data, which we import every night. The answer switches at midnight UK time. When a Scottish bank holiday falls at a weekend, the substitute weekday counts as the bank holiday and is shown with its official name. Local holidays are not part of the GOV.UK data and are not included.
